“No, if she has it, then I’ve already been exposed as well. It’s too late. Just have to ride it out.” she said.

“So you’re not sure that she has it?” I asked.

“No, but the one hour fever followed by a long sleep is pretty much the telltale sign. I’ve seen it before.” she said.

“Did you get it?”

“No. It was my friend Julie, and she ended up making love with her best friend Michael and getting pregnant.” she said.

“Damn. I’ve never seen it in person.” I said.

“Well, keep your eyes peeled. Tomorrow might be interesting.” she said, standing up from the couch.

“Are you going to sleep?”

“Yeah, I wanted to let you know in advance, just in case.” she said. I stood up as she walked past, toward the back of the house.

“Jess, wait. Is there anything I can do to help? What should I do if it ends up being the heat?” I asked. Jess exhaled, flashing her trademark smirk.

“You’re a grown man, I think you’ll know what to do if it arises.” she said, leaving me standing there with a head full of naughty thoughts.

The Heat was an unofficial term, and I’d heard it referred to as a few other things, but we all knew what it was. Women would get a sudden onset fever, with sweating and everything, and it would last about an hour, at which point the woman would feel exhausted and sleep for the next six to ten hours. The rumor was, they’d wake up in a near manic state of hyper-arousal, grinding on anything to satiate their overwhelming physical desires.

I could only hope the wives tale turned out to be true, as my balls ached constantly for relief that only they could provide. If my services were called upon by any of my bunnies in heat, then I would surely heed the call.
